Meet Jared Lee, your Santa Paula Orthodontist

Dr. Jared Lee grew up in Fullerton, CA before attending Brigham Young University. After his freshman year, he put school on hold for a two-year church mission in Mexico where he learned to speak Spanish, but more importantly, he found that life is best lived serving others. He returned to BYU and earned his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science with a double major in Anthropology. He then received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from UCLA. During dental school, Dr. Lee served as the representative for all California dental students to the American Student Dental Association, participating in several committees. At UCLA he co-authored a research study on the diagnosis of dental caries using sophisticated 3-dimensional imaging technology.

After dental school, Dr. Lee spent three years as a postdoctoral clinical fellow at Columbia University in New York City where he received a Master’s degree in Orthodontics. His research focused on the accuracy of computerized representations of dental and skeletal models.

Why an Orthodontist in Santa Paula? Orthodontist vs. Dentist

An orthodontist is a dentist, but a dentist is not an Orthodontist. All orthodontists are dentists first, even though not every dentist is qualified to be an orthodontist. As an orthodontist, Dr. Lee has spent years studying nothing but how and why to move teeth. This includes what to do, how to plan, and how to execute the appropriate treatment plan. All orthodontists, including Dr. Lee, have to continue their formal education for 2 or 3 additional years before receiving their license and certification.

Why does it matter if you see your Santa Paula Orthodontist?

Specialists receive additional training to give them the skills needed to deal with more complex orthodontic problems. Dentists do, however, receive basic orthodontic training which allows them to perform root canals, extract wisdom teeth, and treat young children who do not need to see an orthodontist yet.

An orthodontist may improve your treatment experience in the following ways:

  • Providing more treatment options, with a variety of braces or therapies to choose from.
  • Personal experience treating multiple cases that share your unique concern and anatomical characteristics.
  • More efficient treatment and visits, because it is the office’s focus area of care.
  • Knowing that you’ll receive the best possible outcome on your treatment plan, especially if you have severe bite discrepancies that need to be addressed.
  • Being seen quickly, as a family dentist will be focused on longer patient cases or emergencies throughout the day.

Some individuals may think it’s easier to have their orthodontic work completed by their dentist, but convenience shouldn’t be a problem. You will only be stopping by your Santa Paula orthodontic offices every six to eight weeks.

805 Orthodontics is proud to provide affordable treatment in the Santa Paula area, and we don’t want price to ever be an obstacle. That’s why we accept most major insurance providers and offer payment plans.

Prior to Dr. Lee, I had taken my daughter to Dr. Veal. Not sure how I felt about changing doctors when doctor Dr. Veal retired but he assured me Dr. Lee was an amazing doctor. He told me he wouldn’t leave his practice or patients to just anybody. I trusted him and took my son. He was right! Dr. Lee and his staff are wonderful! Very modern and upbeat environment! I would definitely recommend!

"The office is modern and slick, with current music playing. It feels more like a salon than a dentist's office. There is a huge map of the world in the downscaled kids waiting room. I am an adult Invisalign patient and thrilled with the results. I am about 2/3 through my treatment and I am already more than satisfied with my smile. it is a bit expensive but they worked out a payment plan that makes it really painless. I consider it money well spent. Veronica and Anne-Marie are so friendly and personable, as is Dr. Lee." - Kristen
